balbettare

Parlare in modo esitante e ripetitivo, spesso a causa di un disturbo del linguaggio o per emozione.

English: to stammer

• Balbetta quando è nervoso. — He stammers when he's nervous.
• Il bambino ha iniziato a balbettare davanti alla classe. — The child started to stammer in front of the class.

Emettere suoni indistinti e confusi, tipico dei neonati.

Essere agli inizi o in una fase embrionale di sviluppo (riferito a una scienza, filosofia, ecc.).

(Nautica) Andare all'orza, scuotersi (riferito alle vele di una barca).

Parlare in modo incerto o approssimativo una lingua straniera.
